Support for Unreal Engine 5.3?

Hi, I recently purchased Vintage Film - Ultra Detailed Celluloid Film Simulation and I really like the quality of it. However, I found out that it doesn’t currently support Unreal Engine 5.3, which I urgently need for my project.

Could you please let me know if there’s an update planned for UE 5.3 support, or if there’s any workaround I can use in the meantime?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Isla, welcome aboard!

I’m very sorry but Epic limits how far back you can release new plugins and for Vintage Film, I was not allowed to upload older than 5.4. Vintage Film was originally designed to be backwards compatible to Unreal 5.1 but after learning of the release limitation, I focused on the 5.4 release. That means there exists no release version for Unreal 5.3 and I can not help you with this, I’m very sorry! I wish Epic would have handled this better!

I already checked before and there is no version of Vintage Film in any kind of finished state for an Unreal version lower than 5.4. I’m very sorry and I tried to find something but apparently, I did a tech check months before release and found out about this restriction. If I had a version I would send it but it sadly does not exist.

I guess you could painstakingly recreate the needed shader and you could probably copy and paste most of the shader nodes between the Unreal versions but it would still be a massive effort. But the logic is there, so you could theoretically back port it.

I’m sorry that I don’t have better news for you!

Thanks a lot for your reply!
I understand the limitation from Epic. But since Vintage Film was originally designed to work with UE 5.1, would it be possible for you to create a small empty UE 5.1 project with the plugin inside and share it (e.g. via Google Drive)?

That way I could open it in UE 5.3 and still be able to use Vintage Film . The project can be very small, just an empty scene with the plugin included.

I’d really appreciate if this is possible 🙏
