Hello. I can not animate Focal Lenght in Configure Shot tab. It working alone, but after I add camera in Sequncer, focal lenght freeze and I can not animate it. If I want to change focal lenght, than I must delete camera from sequncer, make changes and put it back, but no Real Camera animation. I can animate only Camera Component. And Camera Component is not physical correct I believe. Unreal 5.1

Cinematographer 1.06 is now online and available for download. This update should fix all the mentioned problems. Every value with a keyframe button next to it will now update properly in the Sequencer. We removed these buttons on values where animation is not possible. Thank you for your patience and if you encounter any further problems, please let us know!

Hey everyone, we just wanted to give you an update on the patch progress. Sadly the patch is not done yet and we are still working on it.

The problem

Just to get a bit into details, it is very difficult to get an update notification from the Sequencer. While it is no problem to get notified, when the value is changed by hand or by another function via code, we haven’t found a way yet, to get this notification, when the Sequencer changes values. We need this notification to start our focus update function to calculate the correct values and apply them. In the worst case we would have to do this update every frame, which would not be beneficial for the performance. We are still looking forward to find a solution to get this notification but this will take some more time.

A workaround

For the time being you can use the focus tracking functionality (Focus Method->Tracking) and track an invisible cube that you then can animate in the Sequencer and shift the focus plane this way. If you have any questions about that, please let us know.

Just a short update on the progress:

We know get the Sequencer updates, so the biggest hurdle is cleared. But by adding this, we discovered several other smaller problems that need to be fixed. This update also starts to amount to a quite a big rewrite of some parts of the code, which will also take time to merge with all the different UE and Cinematographer versions. All this will take some additional time. Fixing this is our main priority but we are also doing it thoroughly to create a reliable patch without introducing new bugs. Thank you for your patience!

We've just uploaded the update and Epic should make it available early next week. Thank you for your patience and we will let you know, when it is online!
