Question About Fisheye Effect

I recently purchased your plugin for Unreal Engine 5 and I just wanted to say I’m really loving it so far. It’s been a great addition to my project.

I’m still a bit of an amateur when it comes to camera settings, and I was wondering is there a way to create a fisheye lens effect with this plugin?

I tried increasing the FOV, but it doesn’t quite give that curved fisheye look. Is there a specific setting or method I should be using?

Thank you for your time and for creating such a great plugin!

Best regards,

Hey Vincent,

thank you very much for your kind words, I’m glad you enjoy working with Cinematographer!

If you don't mind, giving the plugin a positive rating on the FAB store would help a lot!

To your question:

If you are using the PRO version, you can copy any camera lens preset (RealLens or RL for short) and modify the Barrel/Pincushion Distortion Value. Use a Value higher than 0 and lower than 1.0.  The higher the value the more fisheye you will get. If you don’t see an immediate change, save the lens and reapply it to the Camera Setup -> Real Camera Lens slot of your active camera by drag & drop or from the drop down menu to reload the new settings. Keep in mind that fisheye effects usually are seen with a very low focal length. So combine it with a focal length in the range of 12mm - 20mm for the most convincing result.

If you bought the Lite version you can use the SecurityCamera Budget 12mm f/2 lens to get the most fisheye look. In general you want to combine a big sensor (e.g Photography or Cinema) with budget lens with a low focal length (~12mm - 20mm). The Drone Lenses should also provide a good amount of fisheye.

I hope this information helps, best of luck with your project!
