Calibrated Lens File?

Hey!

I'm starting to create my own lenses with the plugin, and I discovered the calibrated Lens file option.

I haven't found any resources on this. How does it work?
I suppose it requires video footage from the lens itself, and that's it?
What settings does it calibrate?

Hey and welcome aboard!

The calibrated lens file is a unreal proprietary file format. It measures the distortion of your real world lens and creates parameters for a post process effect that simulates that distortion in Unreal. Here is the quick start guide from Epic on how to create your own:

https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/unreal-engine/camera-lens-calibration-quick-start-for-unreal-engine

After the calibration you can use that file with Cinematographer by using it in the slot on your screenshot. Cinematographer then uses Unreal's own lens distortion effect instead of Cinematographers.

I hope this information helps!
