Render with NO alpha channel

Hello there!! I hope you are doing great!:)

I have been trying to render separate layers in UE5.4 with alpha and found after many attempts and tests that I couldn't render with alpha due to the cinematographer's camera.

If I render with the native UE camera, it works without issues.

Is there any way I can fix this?

Thank you!!

Thank you for the information, I was able to reproduce the issue!

And you are right, the alpha channel works correctly when the post process materials are disabled. You can do that in the Camera Component-> Post Process-> Rendering Features-> Post Process Materials-> Array and set the materials to 0.0. But then a different problem presents, since the color output will be distorted while the alpha won’t. A workaround would be to disable Barrel/Pincushion Distortion under Cinematographer Features in your camera. All this is not great but at least you could utilize all the other features of Cinematographer.

Since the “Enable alpha channel support in post processing” is still experimental there is hope Epic will provide a solution for this down the line, since I found several other people having the same issue..

Let’s hope Epic will fix this in a coming update!

Hey again Antonis, I hope you are doing great as well!

Well that sounds very strange! Are you using the Movie Render Queue? Do you get any file as alpha? Is it fully black or misaligned? Any further information may help to understand the problem.

All the best!

Hey!! Thank you for your response.

I am using Movie Render Queue and the new Movie Graph in UE 5.4. It renders the background in black, with no transparency. However, when I switch to native cameras, it renders with transparency alpha. I have tried this in two different scenes and I am getting the same results.

Could this issue be related to the post-process materials in the Cinematographer's camera?

Thank you!
